It is October and in the world of design that only means one thing . . . High Point Furniture Market! This year, like all the years before, did not disappoint. Matter of fact, this year may be remembered as one of CeTerra’s most successful.
Amongst the 2,000 exhibitors and 180 buildings, we found five wonderful new business partners; the proverbial ‘needle in a haystack’. These businesses feature one of a kind pieces such as consoles and dining tables hand-crafted by artisans as well as collected pieces including antique vessels and woven baskets gathered from all corners of the world. We were truly inspired.
One of our most unique finds at market this year were vintage wooden concrete molds. The practice of utilizing wooden molds to cast concrete for construction dates back to early Roman architecture. Wood molds made it possible for the Romans to fashion shapes not formerly available in masonry construction such as large domed and vaulted rooms.
Our vintage molds are from India, and were most likely used to create the architectural reliefs found in traditional temples and palaces. Soon, they will be available to grace the walls of your home.
