Over the years, the CeTerra Showroom has been home to hundreds of amazing one of a kind pieces from around the world. Included under this umbrella are pieces handcrafted by artisans as well as artwork, antiques and natural elements from six of our seven continents. While there are many countries to focus on, and all will be touched on over time, we have some incredible pieces from France. What better place to start than one famous for its rich history?
While other focus countries have more art than antiques, our pieces from France are the opposite. When a country is as old and as beautiful as France, it would be difficult not to bring home some amazing antiques to share with our clients! Some of these items include; antique bricks that we have turned into bookends, a set of French doors, antique French baking trays, French gravestone plaques, a 19th Century French dining table, a collection of French Confit Pots as well as 19th Century French Windows refurbished into mirrors.
The stories behind these pieces are a huge part of what makes them so incredible! We love when we can determine exactly when an antique item was used and in what region of a country as well. Details such as this really help to paint the entire story that we can then pass on to our clients and they can then pass to their family, friends and house guests. Bringing items from around the globe into one’s home really allows for an ooh and awe factor from all visitors!
A few of those stories are as follows:
French Dining Table- This gorgeous Cherry Wood Dining Table dates to the 1840’s and features a very unique drawer at one end, allowing for storage of utensils or other dinnerware.
French Window Mirrors- This pair of antique windows were a part of French Architecture sometime in the 1890’s in the city of Avignon and still feature their original hardware. They have since been repurposed into mirrors and make quite the statement in our showroom.
French Confit Pots- Used in the southwest regions of France in the 19th and early 20th centuries for the purpose of preserving Duck Confit. This particular collection represents authentic Confit, as the jars are only half-glazed down to the part of the pot that would have been buried underground.
French Gravestone Plaque- Another found object that we then had a custom steel stand made for, these have been translated by one of our team members and are traditional gravestone markers in that they list a name, date of birth, date of death and the person’s age at death.
One of a kind pieces from around the world fill the CeTerra Showroom. We love working with these items and helping our clients find the perfect place for special items in the home!
